Cost Estimates help you figure out the total cost of moving an employee, including their salary, moving expenses, and taxes. They're useful for planning budgets, making decisions, and setting company policies for all kinds of employee moves, whether within the country or to another. πŸ“Š

What's in a Cost Estimate?

The cost estimate has three main sections:

Cost Estimate Details

The information this section drives the whole cost estimate calculation.

  • Assignment Name and Type: At the top, you'll find the name and some abbreviations related to the case, indicating the assignee's name, the type of assignment, and the countries involved. Please note that this is automatically generated but can be edited by clicking the name.

  • Dates: The 'Start Date' and 'End Date' fields display the duration (end date is not required for one way moves).

  • Origin and Destination: The 'Origin' indicates the from location, the 'Destination' shows where the move is to.

  • Family Size/Accompanying: This field indicates the number of family members or dependents accompanying the employee.

  • Salary

Visualizer

Besides the cost estimate details, a pie chart represents the allocation of costs for the specific employee or case. This offers a visual breakdown making it easy to understand at a glance.

  • Currency Conversion: Allows for currency conversion and adjustment to match the respected values from the origin and destination country.

  • Save & Reopen: Enables you to save the cost estimate, which can be revisited for future reference.

  • Shareable Estimates: Which gives the option to share the cost estimate report via email.

Cost Estimate Line Items

On the bottom, you'll find the cost estimate line items. This section is designed to provide a granular view and deeper understanding of each of the line item:

  • Expandable Line Item Details: Users can expand each line item to access its overview, making it easier to review specific cost elements.

  • Descriptions: Each line item includes an information with a brief explainer, offering insights into the purpose and calculation of that specific cost. Some descriptions may include dynamic options that can change the cost estimate based on the cost estimate details.

  • Overridable Values: Users can input or adjust values for each line item, instantly updating the overall cost estimate to reflect these changes.

  • Override Options: When more customization is needed, the override function allows for modifications on a line item:

    • Explanation: Users can override the explanation or the description of each line item.

    • Currency: There's the ability to switch currency for the particular line item.

    • Amount: Users can directly edit the cost amount.
