When Flex Choices are enabled, here is what a user sees when initiating a case. This additional screen allows users to select the benefits that best fit the needs of the move.

And here's what it looks like in a case. Click on View Flex Benefit Choices to see which line items have flex choices enabled.

Enabling Flex Choices on a Cost Estimate Template

To enable Flex Choices, go to the cost estimate template related to the case type and select the items that are available to flex. You can do this by going to Settings > Cost Estimate Templates. Open or create a new template, select and setup the lines items to be included, and click on the checkbox beside "Allow Flex?" to enable flexible choices on the cost estimate template.

Enabling Flex Choices on a Cost Estimate Line Item

You can enable Flex Choices on each cost estimate line item by clicking on a line item and selecting the Flex tab. Next, simply toggle the Flex option below to enable it!

Using Housing Allowance, for example, you can select parameters such as Housing Types. Here's what it looks like as a cost estimate line item in a case!

Enabling Flexible Choices on a Case Template

Once you have enabled flex on your cost estimate template, you can now setup the case template! To do this go to Settings > Case Settings and select a case template.

Once a template has been selected, scroll down or click on Cost Estimate Templates on the left menu and select the template with flex enabled. You can see if a template has flex enabled with an indicator!

Lastly, to enable flex choices on a case template, scroll down to Initiation and toggle the Enable Flex Choices button.

💡Note: When initiating a Permanent Transfer with flex choices, you will be asked to provide an end date which is needed to run the cost estimate. We recommend using an end date that is 1 year after the start date.
